Appointments

The NSWCRURA selects appropriate referees from across all NSW Country Zones for a range of junior appointments including the NSW Country Age and State Championships as well as a range of schools carnivals and appointments that might be offered resulting from these championships.

THE ARMIDALE SCHOOL RUGBY CARNIVAL

The Armidale School Rugby Carnival (TASRC) is the largest school Rugby carnival of its type in Australia. The carnival has been running for in excess of 20 years and, while technically not a NSWCRU carnival, has been supported by the NSWCRURA since its inception. The carnival began as an event for Primary School Under 12 Rugby teams. In recent years it has grown to include Under 14 and Under 16 Girls 7s competitons and also an Under 10 Pathways competition. There are now over 100 games to be refereed over two days across 10 fields. Our Association uses this as a major development carnival for early career referees. We have also been fortunate to be able to invite referees and referee coaches from both Queensland Country and the Australian Capital Territory Referees Associations to this carnival.

THE NSW COUNTRY JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Each year our Association appoints referees to the Country Age Championship carnivals held at various venues across the state. These carnivals are held over the June long weekend with games on the Saturday and Sunday being for the Country Championship title, then on the Monday, Country teams play against their Sydney counterparts for the State Championship title.

Match Officials and Match Official Developers from affiliate associations of the NSW Country Rugby Union Referees Association are regularly appointed to officiate games at both NSW Rugby and Rugby Australia level. These appointments come as a result of the dedication of our members and their commitment to excellence.

Below is a list of recent appointment of our members to higher level games. This list contains those who have represented while active members of an affiliate association of the  NSW Country Rugby Union Referees Association. A significant number of our members move from Country associations to the major metropolitan Associations, mainly Sydney or Brisbane, where they regularly progress to even higher level games.
